Upon approach, Jarrod's shack seems to be falling apart. The whitewashed boards are peeling, some gray, some brown, with very little of the original white. There is a small porch with a wooden beach chair out front. The porch awning is supported by two twisted driftwood logs, providing a rather ramshackle effect. The shack is perched at the top of a gently sloping dune; the wooden door is usually open, welcoming in anyone who may be passing by. The single window in front is stained by salt, but still usable, giving the whole house a quaint look.
Inside there are two rooms; one can see that the house is sturdier than it would appear. The walls are clean and white, the wood relatively new. The front room serves as a kitchen, living room, and dining room. A small stove sits in the corner by the door, though the ash darkened firepit out front gives evidence to many cookouts. A small fridge/freezer with a microwave sits beside the stove, containing only the necessities. A small cupboard dwells above, holding dry goods and spices.
On the other end of the room, a rather overstuffed, but comfortable, armchair resides. The fabric is sturdy, dyed dark blue, matching the small rug at its base. The walls are lined with curios: mounted fish, shark's jaws, coral, and pictures of the ocean. All in all, the main room has a cozy, beach feeling. A door in the middle of the wall leads to Jarrod's room, a small addition to the original shack.
Here the walls are painted blue, calming to the eyes and soul. A hammock swings gently at one end, containing a soft green blanket and a few battered pillows. A gray, weathered dresser sits on the opposite wall, holding Jarrod's few outfits. He is a man of necessity, not fashion. Shelves line the walls, holding fragments of sea glass, shark's teeth, driftwood twisted into all manner of interesting shapes, and anything else that strikes Jarrod's fancy. Out back sits a surfboard, well used but in good condition, the color of fire with a pure white stripe down the middle. Here Jarrod will be if he is at home; all people are welcome to come and rest for a while, to enjoy the beach.

All in all it was a cozy home, nothing seemed out of place. Nothing except the young man laying on the floor bleeding. But he definitly prefered bleeding inside than out, and Jarrod was kind enough to shelter him. A normal person might not recover from being shot and then drowned, but Pete wasnt a normal person. I should be fine in a day or two. Pete explained to his host, who appeared to be getting used to the teen being inside his head. We Lycans heal incredibly fast. In the mean time, I have to ask you, why arent you running around screaming bloody murder? Its not everyday you see a Werewolf ya know. Jarrod, there is a war going on right in front of you. Its fought in the shadows and alleys, its fought all around you. Vampires, Lycans, Demons and Angels, all fighting for one reason or another. Vampires kill humans for pleasure and demons plot to destroy life as we know it. We, the Lycans, oppose them. An obvious question, but where do you stand?

Upon reaching his house, Jarrod had promptly placed Pete on the floor. His lifeguard training taught him to keep those bleeding wounds above heart level. "Sorry, Pete," he explained with an apologetic smile as he crouched next to him, "no pillows for you." It still disturbed him a little to hear another person's voice inside his head. "First, would it kill you to talk with your actual voice? I mean, if I could talk in people's heads, I would use that a lot, but it's sort of freaky. And there's no need to." Jarrod thought a bit, meeting the lycan's blue gaze with his own sea-green one. After a while, he stood up and gazed out the window pensively, crossing his arms. "You are not the only ones who fight. Humans fight as well; I know what goes on in the alleys and the shadows. I stand with myself, I will fight for my survival as well as for others if necessary. I am a lifeguard, I interact with people every day. Some are strange; you guys take the cake on the strangeness, but I am accustomed to it," he said. It was then that he realized he was still dressed in running clothes; only a threadbare pair of shorts. Glancing at the girl standing nearby, he figured he'd better at least put on a shirt. "I'll be right back," he said abruptly. Then he went and picked out one of his many white button-up shirts. Putting it on, he buttoned up the bottom half of the shirt, then went back out. "So, the question is: what now?" he said, his green eyes flicking between the bleeding boy on the floor and the dark-haired beauty by the door.

Speaking is rather difficult after being shot. This takes alot less energy. And as for the pillow situation; I usually find myself sleeping under a bench in a park or in the middle of the woods, sleeping indoors is a luxury I rarely have. It appears I owe you one Jarrod, if you ever find yourself in need of my... service... look me up. And by the way, sorry again for bleeding on your floor. "Well, it all depends on whether or not you wish to join the fight. We're always looking for more to join the family, Lycan or not."

"We ofcourse don't mind making adjustments in species," Namir grinned her pointed eye teeth gleaming. "Although it is against my moral code to do so without your consent. You're safe from Pete too, I think." She mocked playfully poking her tongue out in his direction. Namir looked around the shack, seeing tiny grains of sand littering the entrance of the door, and the variety of blues in contrast with the white wash walls, her eyes floated across Jarrod's barren abode. Not very personal, she thought to herself.. hm.. How long should we wait around? Have you thought this could be a trap? Maybe he is really just luring us here to later bring us to our deaths with some blood sucking vampires? Not saying we couldn't take them of course ,she smiled to herself. Maybe that's why he's not freaked out.. Or I could also just be being paranoid. You never know who or what to trust these days. "Would you mind if I sat down?" she inquired, motioning to an awaiting chair. Namir tried not to worry about Pete, he said he healed fast, but she wasn't fully used to it all quite yet, she couldn't help but worry. Wow.. he has beautiful eyes, she thought to herself. "Maybe we should move on as soon as possible. We don't need to out stay our welcome, or inconvenience our gracious host." Out of nervous habit Namir began to twiddle with her hair.

Jarrod waved his hand, dismissing the apology. "No problemo, dude, you can't really help but bleed on my floor. And as for overstaying your welcome, don't worry about it. Listen, a normal human, if they lived through what you went through, would take at least two weeks to recover enough to go back to their normal life. You, even with increased healing, should stay here at least for tonight. My moral code won't let me allow you to leave," he said with a grin. "And you are more than welcome to sit, Miss Namir. Sorry my place isn't very....accomodating. I don't spend a ton of time here." He turned his back to them, surveying his small pantry shelf. Just then, a whistle sounded from the door. 'Hiya, hot stuff! called a raucous voice.

Namir raised her eyebrow in his direction her eyes smoldering for a second. "Ruffian," she muffled under her breath, "One of your friends?"she inquired darkly. "And as for the Miss, please just call me Namir, you're my senior if anything I should be calling you Mr. Thank you for your hospitality, Jarrod." She glided over to the chair and sat down gently. "Do you have any old towels or blankets that Pete could sit on? And an ice pack?" Namir surveyed Pete once again, "and maybe some raw meat?" Unless you think you'd be too tempted by the meat. she projected to Pete. Namir moved over to Pete's side and grabbed his uninjured shoulder putting his arm around his neck helping him up slowly and easily, supporting his weight on her shoulders. You should move and sit maybe. We probably should hunt soon. her eye's surveyed Pete's wary figure. She smiled gently at Jarrod. "So, you aren't expecting anyone else are you? Just to clarify, no girlfriend, or off color room mates or anything? And do people normally call in your door like that?"

Jarrod whipped around at the voice."Marvin!" he yelled, a bit of a pink tinge staining his cheeks, "that's no way to talk! What have I told you about that?" He stepped out on the porch, and a scuffle could be heard before he opened the door again, peeking his head inside. "Sorry about that, Namir. Marvin here picks up and repeats anything people say." Then he brought his hand around. On it perched a deep blue parrot. His beak was yellow, and his eyes were ringed with white. Cocking his head side to side, Marvin clacked his beak, then screeched, 'Well, shiver me timbers! Castaways!'.

Namir inclined her head towards the beautifully colored parrot. "He's beautiful, better than what I'd expected the voice to come from," she smiled playfully. "So, Jarrod, you're out here all alone?" "You can't make much being a lifegaurd, why don't you enter a surfing league? You'd get to travel, and see the beaches. Or is that not your style?" So, maybe I was wrong to judge.. he seems like he just wants to help us. she projected to Pete. "Or, you could still do the things you love, except with super strength and speed, better sight and vision, and have a loyal family to back you up," Namir flashed a big smile. Of course she was hinting at his transformation, he was almost too good to pass up.

"Hmm yes," Jarrod said dryly, "well one day, I'm going to make you into a parrot stew, you annoyance!" Flipping the bird upside down, he glared in mock ferocity at the sapphire bird. In reality, Marvin was very dear to Jarrod, and he spoiled him rotten. "Here!" he said, digging in his pocket and pulling out a brazil nut, "eat this and leave me alone!" The bird flew off, nut in beak, landing next to Pete. Hiya, bub he said brazenly, cracking the nut shell and begining to eat.
Jarrod shook his head dispairingly. "Crazy bird..." he muttered to himself. Meeting Namir's eyes again, he said, "Well, I don't just lifeguard, I also work on fishing ships, help out in the snack shack, you name it. I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades. Or a Jarrod, I suppose," he quipped flashing her another brilliant smile, "and I really just surf for fun, for relaxation. It becomes too easy to get caught up in the money and competition, so I stay away from that. But as to your question about living by myself, then no, I don't live here with anyone. I know almost everyone around here, though. No girlfriend; no girl deserves a guy that can't take her out on nice dates and buy her jewelry and stuff." Pinning her with a piercing gaze, he said, "Hey, something like that is a big decision. I can't go back on it; I need to think about it, okay? I know it's not just that; you are also hunted by others, human or non, and no one really wants to be friends with a werewolf except other werewolves. I couldn't stay here, that's for sure, and I think I would die if I couldn't swim in the ocean and feel the sand beneath my toes every day." Breaking off his gaze, he looked out the window, meditating a bit. Snapping out of his serious mood, he turned and said with a grin, "So, have either of you had blue crab chowder?"

"Prior to this I was a vegetarian, so no." Namir said with a dark mood diffusing her worried disposition. "I'm not trying to convince you of it right now, love." she said soothingly to Jarrod. "I'm not trying to tear you from your beloved beach, but you can also be part of the pack and do what you love. And no one will know that you're a lycan unless they see you transform (which no one should be out on the beach during a full moon anyways), you could be so much better at your job. Think about it, you'd have super hearing, sight, and not to mention your speed. You could stay here, live here, everything, you wouldn't eat people unless you wanted to, and you'd learn to control yourself if you did. You could feed off of the wild game. Its not that hard to play nice. And you'd be saving so many more innocent people from vampires and other dangerous creatures." Namir got up to stroke Jarrod's shoulder. "Like I said, its against our moral code to do it without your consent. Chill out." She smiled reassuringly at him. "Don't worry about it, love. And I'm sure you're not that god awful bad of a boyfriend. You seem like the rugged type who would truly value and respect a woman, and not every woman is high maintenance, they don't need all of the extra crap like the jewlery and the diamonds and all of that. You'll find someone who doesn't need all that, eventually." She patted his shoulder and let her hand fall from his back. "Now, back to this discussion of food, it might be the best to get something in the two ravenous werewolves on your hands, or Marvin might get to looking a little tastier than he should." She winked, joking around with him.

Jarrod looked at her, a bit taken aback. "Please tell me you haven't eaten people!" he said with a groan. He stiffened at the touch of her hand - soft and gentle - on his shoulder. When she finally removed it, he said, "Well, what would you guys like to eat? You obviously need something with protein; I can easily get anything seafood. We could even go crab fishing; it's very low-stress, Pete could come or he could sit on the porch. So what'll it be?" he asked. For right now, he really didn't want to think about the whole werewolf situation.

Namir smiled darkly, "No, I personally haven't fed on people, remember the moral code we discussed? That goes against mine. I'll feed on wild game, or even regular sustenance, but yes, protein would be good." She shivered at the thought of crabs, she'd always hated them, even as a human, they'd pinched her quite a few times, her favorite part was throwing them in the pot for revenge. "Crabs would be great." Maybe we were wrong, he seems a little tense, after all. I guess its finally kicking in. Her brow slightly furrowed she helped Pete up from his spot supporting him on her shoulder. Come sit out on the dock with us? I think it might be best if you came, just so he doesn't think I'll jump on him and slay him where he stands. Namir smiled gently at Jarrod. "Don't be nervous love, I'll be a good girl." She winked.

"Well, then," Jarrod said, flicking a bit of hair off his forehead, "let's get going!" Grabbing some fishing line from beneath the sink, he put it in his pockets. Then he went into the back room and came back out with a stiletto knife. The handle was bamboo, and rubbed smooth to fit his hand. Clipping the sheath on his belt, he walked out the door, making sure they followed him. As he walked out, Marvin jumped on his shoulder, singing a sea shanty in a raucous voice. "Oh, I'm not nervous," he said, returning the wink, "Marvin can protect me from anyone, he's a tough old bird."

"Okay..." Namir surveyed the bird "..sure..." Namir drug Pete along behind her, following Jarrod and shutting the door behind her. They skipped on down the beach as ghost crabs scurried on the ground at their feet. Namir smiled everytime she heard a crunch under her feet, she really hated crabs, and her combat boots were perfect for crab destruction. Usually she wouldn't be this sadistic towards animals, but here, she couldn't help it. As they arrived down at the dock she plopped down on the edge of the dock, letting her feet swing over the dock watching Jarrod's muscles become taught as he moved around on the dock.
