"I used to live about a half an hour away from here..." Pete said. "A little town named Barker. The kind of town where everyone knows everyone. And everyone waves at everyone... except you. They pretend you dont exist, like your not.... human." The funny thing was that in actuallity, Pete wasnt human. But that wasnt the point. It was hard to leave his childhood friend Luke, he was like a brother to him... always had his back. If it wasnt for Luke, Pete would have cracked and lost his sanity long ago. He wondered if he would ever see him again as he stared out the window with his cold blue eyes...

She nodded, reflectively finishing her pizza. "Yes, that's the kind of town I come from. Except that everyone knew me. Everyone waved, everyone wanted to be my friend. Until that camping trip. Then, the next full moon, they practically killed me," she said, her hand tracing the thin, ribbonlike scar that ran from her temple to her chin. "So I changed my name and I've been wandering ever since," she finished. Arai swallowed the lump that rose in her throat. "I thought they were my friends," she whispered.

Horrible memories from his childhood kept pooring back into his mind. His eyes staring out the window, unseeing. He saw his childhood crush, always at a distance... in his mind, Pete wasnt worthy, a girl just wasnt in the cards for Pete. Snapping back into reality Pete walked over to the ping pong table. He picked up the paddle and expertly twirrled it. "Up for a quick game, Arai?" Pete asked casually. "I have to warn you though, i take no prisoners." Pete reall didnt want to do anything but crawl into a hole... he tried to rid his mind of his old home.

She looked down, trying to block out her past, trying not to feel the hurt of abandonment. Her father's face, condemning as he threw a rock at her, driving her away, flashed in her memory. Squeezing her brown eyes shut, she forced the vision away. Standing with a weak smile, Arai picked up the other paddle, her golden eyes slowly brightening again. "Hmm, well then I think it's about time for you to experience losing, o arrogant one!" she retorted. Picking up the hollow ball, she tossed it up and whipped her paddle, hitting it across towards Pete with a snap.

((man, i cant wait for Julie to fix my avatar... he looks like hes drooling...)) Pete quickly returned the ball, his Lycan reflexes making everything seem to slow down. "Oh by the way, i have a surprise for you." Pete said. "Theres a pie in the fridge." Pete said with a grin on his face as Arai hit the ball back. "But you'll have to beat me to get it" He said with a smirk as he backhanded the ball.

"Well I have three surprises for you," Arai retorted as she reached across the table to whack the ball back at him. "One, I already knew about the pie," As he hit it solidly towards her, she tapped it back over, "two, I am the four-year table tennis tournament champion of Carter Finley High," Grinning as the ball sailed towards her, she overhanded it powerfully, sending it rocketing towards him, "and three, I don't have to win to get that pie."

Pete smaked his head against the table in shame when Arai struck the final blow. She now had his pie, and his dignity. Pete mentally sighed as he thought about her. Pete wasnt blind, she was quite attractive, and she seemed like a nice enough person. But Peted had been making a fool of himself all day, and was a few years younger than her. Not to mention that she didnt seem interested in the opposite gender at all. Pete assured himself that Arai was far out of his league. Pete sighed out loud this time as he hopped onto the couch, throwing a pillow over his head. Preparing to go to bed, he stripped down to his boxers and raised his hands above his head yawning. as he turned around to lay on the couch, Arai couldnt help but check the boy out. He was about 16 years old but she couldnt help but notice his muscular frame, he was a good looking guy. "Good night Arai." he said as he closed his eyes. "I need my beauty sleep." Pete said, laughing a bit. "You can take my bed, its just down the hall, to the right of the bathroom." and with that, he fell asleep.

Grinning triumphantly, Arai spun the paddle in her hands. He seemed ashamed of the fact that he had lost to her. "Don't worry," she teased, "I don't even really like pie. I'll split it with you." She watched as he walked to the couch and stripped to boxers. His arms were well-muscled, his chest strong and powerful. He was handsome; she would admit to that. But she forced herself to view it from a medical perspective. A fine specimen of the human race...or lycan. Whichever. Dismissing it from her mind, she said, "Alright. You get that beauty sleep. You need it," she teased, "so good night. As for me, I'm taking a shower first." And she did just that. For good measure, she washed her shirt the best she could, removing weeks of grime from it. Wearing the sweatshirt Pete had given her, she fell on the bed and was asleep in minutes, stomach full and mind tired.

It was about 7:00 in the morning whenPete woke up. He yawned and checked on his guest, who was sound asleep. He walked over to the stove and opened the fridge, taking out some eggs and a couple slices of bacon. "WAKE UP ARAI!" Pete shouted. "YOUR BREAKFAST IS GETTING COLD!" he said as she walked into the room, still half asleep.

A rather harsh yell awoke her from her slumber. Well, two could play that game. "SHUT UP, PETE!" she yelled back, "YOU DON'T NEED TO DEAFEN ME!" Grumbling to herself, she pulled on her shirt, which had dried by now, and walked out, rubbing her head. It didn't really help her hair look any better, but oh well. Handing him the hoodie, she said, "Thanks." She was not a morning person. Arai sat at the table and let her head hit it with a thunk. "Why are we up so early?" she asked.

Pete smiled at her. "Why not Arai? I thought i would cook you some breakfast, after all i bet you havent seen breakfast in a long time, and i mean that in the best way possible." he said holding up a plate covered in eggs and bacon. "Would you like a glass of milk or O.J.?" Pete asked hospitably. ((i think thats a word... lol))

"I haven't seen food in a long time," she replied, a bit more awake now that there was something to eat. Her stomach agreed with her statement, growling a bit discontentedly. "I'll have some milk, please. Thanks for all this, by the way," she said, waving her hand around to encompass the whole building, "all the food and shower and stuff. I owe you one." Motioning across the table, she said, "C'mon, you eat too. I always feel awkward when I'm the only one eating."

Pete picked up a couple pieces of Bacon and a piece of toast, and just as quickly they dissapeared. "You know what we should do?" Pete asked even though he was about to answer anyway. "We should call Pablo." Pete said with a grin. "In the mean time, i have a caffine addiction to feed." Pete said as he grabbed a mountain dew, downing it and then reaching for another as he sat down at the table across from Arai. "And no problem Arai, were family, remember?"

Arai matched him in eating speed, consuming two pieces of toast and a few slices of bacon in record time. Her stomach rejoiced in eating two proper meals in a row. She hadn't done that in quite a while. Drinking deeply from the glass of milk, she let the creamy coolness slide down her throat. Licking off the milk moustache she had acquired, she nodded. "I guess we are. Of sorts, anyways." Her life just kept getting stranger and stranger.

Vincent had left Europe....for awhile. "Who is this, Pete? Your girlfriend?" Vincent asked as he came walking towards Arai and Pete. "I thought you were out looking for members of our family." Vincent then added as he approached them.
