Yellow ‘CAUTION’ tape still laced the gate to the old Den, and chains and padlocks kept the metal entrance to the driveway noticeably locked. Intruders and visitors were clearly not welcome here; no one was welcome here anymore. But such Human means of restriction would not keep Adele away, and she climbed the pointed gate carefully, dropping to the ground on the inside of the property. It was midday, but the sun had stayed hidden behind clouds for most of the morning, adding to the already morose feeling in the air. And as the wind picked up, it sent a bitter shiver down Adele’s spine; she zipped up her worn hoodie, and pulled the hood up over her blonde head. As the girl walked slowly down the driveway toward the remains of the Den, chunks of brick and plaster lay scattered about. An occasional piece of clothing sat here and there, as well, the only reminder of the Lycan it used belonged to. What had once been the large mansion of the Werewolves was now a pile of ash and brick; demolished support beams sticking into the air, but no longer supporting anything. One corner at the back of the old home had not been hit as bad, and still had a few yards of cracked wall, but the rest of the walls lay in pieces, collapsed into the basement. Adele stood where the front door to the Den had been, standing on top of rubble, looking ‘into’ the house. It really wasn’t too much of a surprise that nothing had been built over the old Den since its destruction, but that the property was still in such a state of ruin was a bit odd. The whole ordeal had made international news all over Europe, and was probably the most dreadful attack Sweden had seen in decades. To most Humans, other than a select few Hunters, the explosion at the Swedish community house (which was the front of the Werewolf Den) wrought a devastating death count. But to Lycans keeping up with the news everywhere, it was a day of sadness and defeat. Adele remembered getting the news, and even thinking about it a year passed it still brought a sour taste to her mouth. She shoved her fists into the pockets of her hoodie, and her sad, grey eyes scanned the ruins.

Cameron and the Resistance, ever since it was formed made sure they had tabs on any time or event that had an thing to do with vampires or werewolves. The incident in Sweden and at this location had aroused the suspicion of Cameron and he had gone to check it out my closely. He had taken a seal team with him as well, but they were outside covering the building. There were a few around the walls and waiting at the entrances in case something happened that would render their support. Cameron went into the building, his gun's light shining on everything. There was a draft and Cameron could feel it. Cameron turned swiftly as the air conditioning box turned on in the window. Cameron took a deep breath and kept going. He wasn't really expecting to find anything, but his bullets were silver and wooden, so he was ready for anything.

Looking in at the remains, the hostility of that day was apparent, even though she had only heard rumors from other Lycans on what had actually taken place. So many dead; Adele was silent and looked on with pained eyes for her dead brethren. Thinking about it just made her feel helpless and so angry. If there had been anything that she could have done to prevent this tragedy, Adele would have given her life to make it so. She wished she knew exactly what had happened. What had actually happened to her Leader Alena, and the Lycan Szandor who’d saved her from Vampires on a previous occasion? Of course, the whole situation wouldn’t have been solved by Adele sacrificing herself, but she felt like she should have been able to stop the explosion somehow. Her new family had been taken away so quickly and heartlessly. She would make those d*mn Vampires regret the day, somehow. There were many footsteps about, Adele could hear, both inside and nearby outside the collapsed building. They were careful, but quick steps, and very thorough. But why, the teenager wondered. Any important documents or items that had survived the explosion had surely already been collected, by either Vampire or Werewolf. So why was the deceased Den now so full of life again? Adele stepped carefully into the broken entrance of the Den, letting down her hood, looking around at the destruction. The front hall had once been so large and inviting, but now the ceiling and the floors above it had all caved in, and the ground was not even. Nearby, but not within sight, Adele thought she heard soft, foreign voices talking to themselves (or perhaps into earpieces). She had wanted to see the basement, but was curious of these other intruders, and began walking softly toward where the closest one seemed to be.

Adele could probably see the light from Cameron's flashlight but Cameron didn't turn it off because at the moment he had no cause to. Cameron kept walking around the broken crates, caved walls. He began to see the dead bodies of creatures and that was all but comforting. Cameron had seen lots of dead things before and this didn't phase him too much. A black ops operative on the roof saw Adele moving towards him and alerted Cameron through his earpiece. Cameron knelt down and turned off his flashlight and turned on the lazer as well as the nightvision scope. The moon shone in the windows so there was still some light. Cameron, still only aware that the intruder was a just a woman called out, " U.S. Seals ma'am! Present yourself!" He yelled. He didn't want to hurt anyone and hoped she was aggressive.

The lighting changed behind the wall in front of Adele, and seemed to dim. And she heard the voice call out, addressing her. U.S. Seals? United States military was here? She wanted to turn around right there and ignore him, she wasn’t any good in dealing with governmental authority, nor did she enjoy it. But she stepped closer anyway, one hand resting on the tattered wall as she came out from behind the corner. The bright light of a red laser met her face to face, and Adele quickly brought a hand up and ducked a bit. Not like the ammo this guy had would likely kill her, she thought, but she didn’t particularly enjoy getting shot. “Schießen Sie nicht.” (Don't shoot.) She spoke German, hiding the fact that she knew English for the time being. She looked expressionlessly at the fit American man from her position. So, the other footsteps Adele had heard belonged to American soldiers as well, interesting. Behind the soldier, Adele could see the decaying corpses of some of the Lycans who’d lived here on the day of the attack, vaguely recognizing a couple of them. A small knot formed in her stomach, and Adele bit her lip, refraining from getting a closer look because of the man pointing his gun at her. She kept her hands by her sides, but within sight for the human.

Cameron heard words, German. He recognized German. It had been a while since he had taken any class on the German language but it was coming back to him. He answered her in the same dialect. "Ich bin eine Marine! Kommen Sie jetzt, heraus werde ich nicht feuern!" He exclaimed and waited. He stood up, and if Adele was looking she would see his full height. He was six feet and he was well built. Taking Cameron on in any situation would not exactly be the smartest thing she could do. Cameron waited anxiously. He didn't want to get into a fire fight, but his finger was on the trigger and it was squeezing just slightly, the silver bullet in the chamber, just waiting to be released. He waited, waiting for her.

“Ja, okay. Bitte schießen Sie nicht.” It would be her luck to run into a naval officer who spoke German. But would he really fire if she didn’t come out? Adele thought so. Still, she couldn’t help wondering what interest the old Den was to the United States Navy. The possible reasons she came up with didn’t sound very good to her; and suggested that the U.S. government knew the residents of the Den had been Lycans. Adele stepped out into the open, revealing herself to the Navy Seal, standing a little over a yard away from the man. She felt pretty small compared to this Seal, and she looked like it too. Her physical appearance did not suggest she was harboring Lycan strength, but then again that was part of the beauty of Lycanthropy that the practitioner could blend in with others while in their Human body. And if the U.S. Navy was here, they must have suspected something, which meant Adele could be suspect for being here. But outwardly, Adele felt she looked civilian enough. Adele did not smile to the Seal, but she did not scowl either. If she could help it, she didn’t want to have to expose herself to these men, “Ich bin unbewaffnet…” A sharp, warm feeling pierced the ball of Adele’s left foot, and she looked quickly down to see the source of this discomfort. In stepping out to reveal herself, Adele had found a lovely nail to step on, that had impaled the sole of her shoe and entered her foot. The girl looked back at the U.S. Seal, slight discomfort in her eyes; but if he hadn’t noticed the nail himself, it would be easy to remedy.

Cameron watched Adele come forth from the shadows. He gave a sigh of relief. Perhaps he would not have to fight here after all. Generally he looked fighting, he liked the adrenaline rush, the anticipation, but since a couple weeks ago he had been given a whole new war to fight, one that he did not take pleasure in fighting. He was fighting against vampires and from what he understood to be the largest threat that mankind had ever known. Oh that was so comforting. Cameron, after looking at the girl, lowered his gun slightly, Nur falls, stellt Ihre Hände, wo ich sie sehen darf. Sprechen Sie Englisch? " He asked and waited for her response. His breathing was light, he was calm. One of his men was checking off on the earpiece, telling him that no one was around. Good, then he had some time.

Thinking back to it, Adele wasn't quite sure what she had done with her pocket knife, but it wouldn't really be a problem unless she was searched. She brought her hands in front of her slowly for the soldier to see, while trying to nonchalantly step off the nail, "I know English." No sudden movements, but she really wanted to get that thing out of her foot. As the Seal lowered his gun a bit, Adele smiled inwardly. But the smile left when she got a closer look at some of the bodies behind the man. "What exactly is going on here?" She asked as innocently as she could, although she'd always had problems in playing innocent.

Cameron watched her. He wasn't going to let her do anything strange or make an aggressive actions. He couldn't have that or risk it. Cameron smiled when she said she knew English. At least he didn't have to remember back to high school German to speak with her. He knew he couldn't answer her question fully, but he could answer it pretty well without causing too much suspicion. " I am a colonel with the Resistance, we are investigating this area for werewolves, however, someone else probably found em first." Cameron said, looking around. He back out of Adele's way, he view of the werewolves behind him in full view now. " Mind if i ask what your role is here?" Cameron asked. It was a little too random that she show up here at the same time he did. This place wasn't exactly the easiest place to find.

"Werewolves...?" Adele tried to laugh at this, but could not. 'The Resistance' didn't sound like a faction that would be friendly with Werewolves, or even Vampires. As the U.S. Seal stepped aside, Adele took a couple steps forward, getting that irritating nail out of her foot, and looked more closely at the bodies. They were mangled and decaying, their positions said they'd gone through hell. And even some of the marks from the explosion were still present. She couldn't be absolutely certain, but at least one of them Adele had spent a good deal of time with during her stay here. "My role?" Adele still looked at the dead Lycans. She curled her fists and started to rip at the hem of one of her sleeves, but stopped herself in case the soldier would think she was trying something. She hadn't had anything to do with the destruction of the Den; but she knew that wasn't what he had meant. "...I knew some of the people who used to live here."

Cameron nodded, " I am sorry for you loss here. I don't know what happened here. From the looks of it the werewolves were exterminated like vermin. My team will start an investigation. Our most logical guess would be vampires, but i am not sure." Cameron said and watched as Adele tore at her sleeve. That was interesting. It looked like she was more attached to some of these creatures than she led on. Cameron wondered if she was in fact one. It would make logical sense. She was in the right place, she had the right emotions when she looked at the death of her kin and she didn't seem to be too surprised by the concept of werewolves and vampires like most humans were. Cameron took a step towards her, " Are you alright?" He asked.

No; something hard and sour had formed in the pit of her stomach as she looked at the corpses. But she couldn't pull her gaze away. If only there had been something she could have done to prevent this; she had definitely let Perrin down. "Ja..." she agreed with the U.S. Seal casually about his speculation on the Vampires' part. But the way she said it made it seem like the answer to his question if she was alright. Frowning, she took her eyes away from the scene, and looked up at the man. She did not notice as he stepped closer, "Investigate...? Now?" It was odd that everything seemed as if the incident had happened just yesterday. Perhaps other agencies had been investigating too. But what would they find? Adele wasn't quite sure of the biology of Lycanthropy, although she assumed there was a gene if it could be passed from parents to child. She had trouble keeping eye contact with this man, and looked around her. This was not the Den she'd known.

Cameron watched as she didn't look him in the eyes very often. This gave Cameron the idea that she was hiding something, which convinced him even more that she was in fact a werewolf. In fact, she probably belonged to this particular den and in that case must have been gone when this all happened. Where had she been, and what caused her to leave? Cameron, even though he was at this moment about ninety percent sure that Adele was a vampire, said nothing of it. Even if she was, he didn't hold any quarrels with her or her kind. The werewolves and vampires had a sort of mutual understanding and didn't really harm each other unless absolutely needed. " I will allow you to look around miss, but be cautious. If you here something, it is and my men. Don't be alarmed." Cameron said and took a step away from Adele, turning his back and walking towards a dead lycan, kneeling down and observing the body.

Adele frowned as the U.S. Seal told her she could look around and then bent to examine one of the bodies. Was he really so comfortable to just let her roam through their investigation scene? She stood and watched him observe the body for a moment, but looked away as he approached the one she recognized. He was unlike the government authority figures she'd dealt with in the past. In Germany, Adele would have been escorted to the nearest exit or back to her house, even if it hadn't been the scene of an accident. She figured it was just because the German police knew her and disliked her. Or perhaps this man was just playing her... Maybe he knew she was a Lycan and figured she knew the Den pretty well, even in its blown-up condition. What if he had told Adele she could look around so she would lead them to a particular point of interest? The teen was getting a bit paranoid, and took a couple of steps back. The basement was really the only place that might give away information, although it was likely that if it was accessible the Navy Seals would find and enter it anyway. And any information that had been stored down there had probably already been retrieved, at least that's what Adele figured. She gnawed her lip in contemplation. Something in the back of her mind said she should go. But then she would have come here for nothing; she didn't like that thought. Silently, she left the area where Cameron was, and walked a bit aimlessly through the cracked and broken walls. Hopefully the other Seals wouldn't give her any trouble and would just let her be. But Adele looked behind her shoulder more than once to make sure she wasn't being followed. She came upon the location where one of the staircases leading up was planted. But the steps were broken through, and the entrance of the steps were cluttered. The ceiling and floor of the level above had caved in and collapsed the staircase. Scattered on the broken steps were a couple more bodies, sprawled out in the array they had been blown. The face of one lay staring blankly at Adele. Her head was craned awkwardly back from the shoulders and neck. And the jaw hung open and a bit off-kilter, like it had been dislocated. The eyes were black and void, and across the once beautiful face, flesh had been scraped off and pieces of wood and steel were lodged in one of the cheeks.
