Snarling, Arai raced off, following the elusive vampire with her pale eyes. He had gotten away this time. And judging by the heat, it would be best if she vacated as well. On all fours she ran through the forest, silent and strong, only a streak of dark reddish brown. Out of the forest and out of danger for now, the giant wolf went about tracking her prey once more. Wet nose to the grass, she sniffed deeply, recalling his particular scent. She would find him. With a final snort she found him. The trail was strong; he had passed a few minutes ago. Firelight danced across her shining teeth as they were bared in a wolfish smile. Baying loudly to the moon, she set off at a steady lope to find him. Stealth was not her concern at the moment; she still had about five hours to hunt and kill him, then feast on his flesh. She would make the hunt fun. At least fun for her, anyways.

Jasper ran as hard as he could into town, it was late enough that as fast as the two were moving not many people would see more than a couple blurs whir past them. The vampire wasn't even winded as he came up on the twinkling street lights that illuminated the asphalt. Doors flew past, each being the one that he didn't recognize, he was looking for the green door. He skidded around the corner and continued down for two blocks and turned to the right. The sweet smell of honey and women's perfume tempted him, begging from the traces they left all over the place, temporarily his steps slowed. The thoughts of the beautiful women that those scents lead to were agonizingly pleasureable. "No," Jasper shook his head and ran back at full pace, "Don't get distracted."
A few minutes later Jasper saw the green door that he was looking for. He dodged a look over his shoulder and pounded hard on the door. There wasn't an answer, so Jasper kept pounding. "Dr. Pettenati!!! OPEN UP!" From inside the vampire was able to hear the hurried sliding of slippered feet as the doctor rushed to the door. The door swung open and Jasper flew inside, pressing the door shut behind him, pressing himself against it. "I need a favor..."

So he went to the town. As if that would help him. The wolf followed, four paws speeding her towards him. The people would not protect him. Without quite realizing it, the wolf had shrunk to the size of a regular wolf, now looking only like a large dog, though with a slightly more primal look about her. Slowing, she skulked in the alleyways, keeping out of sight. It was late, and few were out. Her pale glimmering eyes surveyed the scene. It was dark, but her vision was perfect. Sometimes the light relected green out of her eyes, making her look rather surreal. His scent went past the scent of women, but did not stop. In fact, she knew he was thinking about it. His scent was a bit stronger here. The scent of people made her drool a bit. Food. But the vampire would not escape her, not now. There was a too much at stake now. So she followed him as his steps went sure and steady through the town. He knew where he was going, she realized. There was no faltering, no crisscrossing of steps, no indescision. So still she followed. Then she stopped. Her ears pricked, the dark tips almost touching above her head. The voice called through the night. He knocked on a door. Then it opened and he entered. She growled maliciously, white teeth flashing in a grin. The hunt was afoot, and she was ready to kill. A green door soon loomed before her. It was time for this to end.

Jasper smelled Arai outside, her scent drifted under the door like a forlorn phantom looking for some company. He nodded stiffly to the Doctor. The men stood backs pressed against the door, listening. Dr. Pettenati held up his hand, counting down. Three...Two...One... The door flew open with a bang, Jasper and Dr. Pettenati stood at the threshold of the apartment with tranquilizer guns. The doctor held up the scope to his wrinkled eye, but Jasper just aimed at the wolf in front of them. His finger barely hesitated on the trigger, but he knew what he had to do. With a "fft fft" the shots were fired at Arai, sending out the darts to pierce her fur and knock her out for at least a little while.

Arai smelled him there. There was someone else too. That would serve as just another course. Snuffling at the door, she recognized something. The smell of medicine. It slowed her, causing her to not break down the door, and for a small while the real Arai took over. She was supposed to be a doctor. She had gotten accepted at the best medical hospital in the state, she volunteered on ambulances, she loved it. The hunger for the hunt left as Arai returned to her proper mind. Sitting, she cocked her head, just smelling at the door, remembering. Her expression was as forlorn as one would see on a wolf. Her old life was gone. There was no returning. Then the green door flew open with a bang, startling her. Jumping up, the shock of the noise was enough to cause her to snarl maliciously, bringing back the vicious beast. Then her shoulder was assaulted by sharp pain, and she twitched in the street, whipping around and growling. Arai struggled for control of her mind, the pale gold eyes wide and wild, trying to stop herself from jumping and slaying them both. She knew they were tranquilizer darts; this was for the best. Slowly her frantic scrabbling became wearied panting and weak legs. The red wolf gradually sunk to the pavement, ears low and relaxed, eyes heavy. The last thing she saw was Jasper, the vampire, and another man standing over her. Then the blessed blackness engulfed her, and thankful relief from the beastiality of it all came for a while.

Jasper lowered his rifle when he saw Arai fall to the ground. He started towards her, but Dr. Pettenati threw out a chubby arm across his chest. "Wait, lad. Give it a few seconds to calm." Arai twitched and her yellow eyes closed, the sweet relief of the tranquilizer's medicine surging threw her veins. Jasper pushed past his arm and walked on over to Arai, looking upon her face sorrowfully. He hated to have to do that, but he knew it was for the best. Even as a wolf she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. The vampire kneeled down in front of her head, his knees exposed through the new worn holes in his jeans. Cautiously he lowered his hand to her face, his brows knitted together in sympathy. Gently he stroked her smooth red fur. "Jasper," the doctor said, "Come on, lad. We need to get her in side..." He was stepping over to her with a metal cage muzzle. Jasper nodded, and even more precariously leaned down and gently kissed her head. Doctor Pettenati leaned down and tightened the muzzle around her mouth and Jasper scooped her up and carried her inside. Jasper kicked the door closed behind him and jogged up the stairs to a row of doors. To the far left was an open door with the tv blaring and a blue light streaming out onto the carpet. A nudge came from behind him, "To the right." Jasper stepped into the open door. In the sterile office there was a variety of shiny metal surfaces, jars and objects. The room didn't have any windows, only a couple lights, but was oddly warm. In the center of the floor was a big metal cage. The doctor directed to put her in, and Jasper hesitated. "I'm not sure how I feel about putting her in that..." He frowned, "Its not like she's some sort of animal..." Then he glanced down into the hungry face of the lycan. "Technically...." Dr. Pettenati started, putting his fingers together. Jasper shot him a dirty look. "Heh. Sorry, lad," he chuckled. Jasper put her down in the cage as gently as he could, and closed the door. She was hooked up to various iv's and things to keep her fluids in stock while she slept. The doctor clapped a fat hand on his back, "You did the right thing lad. I'll get you some coffee to lighten your spirits." Jasper grabbed a chair that was sitting on the side of the room and sank down in it wearily. "Thanks man. I'll stay here and keep an eye on her.."

Arai lay limp on the street as Jasper approached, her eyes closed and breathing heavy and deep. Her muscular frame sagged, unresponsive, in his strong arms as he carried her in, her paws dangling loosely. As she was muzzled and placed in the cage, the large wolf remained unconscious to the world, oblivious to the fact that she had been muzzled and caged. Had she been awake there would have been no stopping her fury. But for now her head rested between her huge paws, her black nose twitching occasionally, her ears still. Arai's mind wandered peacefully through a foggy haze, no real destination or purpose in her head. It was strange to be so calm during a full moon, though if she was not tranquilized she would have ripped the two apart and feasted on their flesh hungrily. The wolf was always hungry, and that was one thing it and the body it took over once a month shared. The life of a nomad was not a comfortable one, and Arai was often hungry. Her bushy tail twitched lightly, brushing across the metal. Soon she would awaken, for advanced healing meant that she would emerge from the drugs faster than a normal human or animal. And then her rampage would be unabated until the rays of the sun broke over the horizon.

Jasper laid his head on the back of the easy chair, drained from the day's work. He didn't need to sleep, but it'd been a while since he had fed, and it seemed like the older he got the longer he would nod off into trances that would be mistaken for sleep. He began to mull over the events that occupied his memory, he rubbed his eyes and forehead and sighed. His ears pricked to the sound of shuffling slippered feet coming down the hallway. Moments later the jolly round form of Dr. Pettenati was at his side. He held a pack out to him, and some needles. Jasper looked up with a raised brow. "What?" "If you take the iv you won't have to go out tonight. Personally I don' want to be looking like a quarter pounder and a pint if you know what 'M sayin'." Blue all knowing eyes peered out from behind his glasses that hung on his nose, his face was stubbled with the growings of a white beard to match his goatee. Dr. Pettenati had always vaguely reminded him of Santa Clause, his jolly round stature and his good nature always reminded him of that. "Thanks, Doc for taking us in, I know you must be busy these days," he said with a little sarcasm. "Well since Rosalie died I need somethin' to busy me'self with, lad. It was either this or to open a cat house," the old doctor rumbled a chuckle that made Jasper smile. "I trust you can hook yourself up there lad, but as for your little lady, I might want to give her a bit more," he rummaged through the drawers in the small room illuminated by a fire. "'Er kind can threw these things mighty fast you know," He jabbed the needle of a syringe into a vile of tranquilizer fluid and pulled up the plunger. With expertise he held it up right and thumped on it and squirted out a little onto the floor. "Your little lass needs to be sedated until day light, or else lets just say it won't be good bidding for us." His sausage like fingers wrapped around Arai's paw and injected the tranquilizer into her upper leg. Jasper got up to pull one of the rolling carts to hook up the bag on and fixed the needle. Dr. Pettenati pulled his arm out and told him to relax and sit down. "Okay, on three.. one..." He stuck the iv into the marble flesh of Jasper's arm. "Why do doctors never wait until three?" Jasper grumbled. "Hey, you're lucky that went through, I had to get bigger needles to accommodate your kind. Last week I had a couple of blokes come in needing some fluids and I couldn't stick the needle in his skin was sa' tough! Vampires... Non' sens' the whole lot of yah," he grumbled half heartedly. "But, what can I say, its my job. Somebody's gotta take care of hell's creatures, and it might as well be me..." The doctor ruffled Arai's red fur lovingly. "Firecracker, that one." Suddenly he stood up, "Well, its getting closer to 'that time lad, she'll be stirring soon, safe and sound from the moon." "What time is it?" Jasper questioned. "Er... about 3 oclock I'd be guessin. Give it a rest lad, you've been through a lot." Jasper nodded and relaxed in the chair. The blood got to flow straight into his veins now, bit by bit he felt more energized and gained a little more color. He licked his lips, tasting the blood through his skin, "Type AB, nice choice," he muttered to himself. "Now only to wait for the princess to awaken..." He rested his unplugged arm to his forehead and leaned on it, waiting patiently.

Had Arai been awake she would have highly disputed that she was any princess. Unless princesses came in jeans and sweatshirts with holes in them, and walked around in beat up sneakers, and looked like hobos. It was pure fortune that on this night when she was most vicious that she was with someone who knew what to do. Normally she raced around under the moon, trying to fight with the wolf inside her, trying to resist the need to feed. Such a thing was very difficult. But now, with both sides of her sedated, she was having a fairly enjoyable full moon. Or at least the Arai side was. The wolf side was furious at having its freedom snatched away. But there was no indication of this on the outside. To a viewer it would appear as if an overly large wolf lay in the cage, dead to the outside world, the tip of her pink tongue just barely sticking out as is the manner of those who are drugged up. She lay there for hours, sedated heavily, just peacefully breathing, no snarls or growls or attacks imminent. The moon slowly began to relinquish its hold on her as the night waned, and the wolf began to subside in the inner battle. Arai did have to admit she rather hated this part of the full moon, for she always awoke unclothed. It was a trial to her, for she was a rather painfully modest person at times. Especially about her scars that lacerated her smooth stomach. She hated those scars. No one had really seen them, and she wished to keep it that way. But drugged as she was, there was no way of helping it now. As the first pale streaks of the rising sun began to slide over the horizon, the wolf began to shrink in size. It was imperceptable at first, but then the process sped up as the glowing orb rose in power. First to go were the claws and tail. Slowly her blunt paws shrunk and lengthened, becoming slnder fingers and small hands. The tail receded into the steadily shrinking body. Hair began to thin out and give way to smooth skin as the nose blunted and finally disappeared altogether, becoming a slightly pixie like symmetrical face. Her arms and legs grew smaller and more slender, finally resolving onto a small frame. And there lay Arai, the muzzle falling off around her much smaller face, her breathing still deep and steady, her auburn hair a bit ruffled from the nights events. Curled up, she lay on the cold metal cage, unaware for now that she was back to normal.

Jasper's head was leaned back and his eyes closed, thinking. His mind drifted away from the subjects that usually haunted him, and instead only saw Arai's face. A smile pulled at the corners of his mouth as her beautiful face drifted through his mind, smiling down sweetly and calling his name. The warm crimson syrup slowed entering into his veins. "Hm, the bag must be done," he thought. His eyes fluttered open and he slowly pulled the large needle from his arm and unhooked the iv pulling it down from the rack. Jasper glanced at his watch and quickly glanced at the cage, walking over to the red trash can that was labeled in orange "Biohazard"- Jasper stopped midstride and turned back to the cage. "Did I just...." He felt bad for looking. Upon his second glance, he noticed that Arai lay in the bottom of the cage, iv's still hooked, sleeping.. but totally naked in her human form. His jaw dropped. He stammered slightly, his mouth getting a little dry. Jasper dropped his bag and needle on the chair and went over to her, trying to be as polite as possible as his hands were sweating a little. "Arai..." he whispered softly. With a gentle hand he pulled out her iv's and bandaged them so when she woke she wouldn't be startled and rip them out. "Arai...." his voice crooned, he smoothed her arm trying to wake her up gently. Jasper slid open the door and took off his shirt, his pale strong muscles gleamed as they worked together to lift off the thin fabric. She would need something to cover herself. He went back to her hand and ran his fingers over it tracing the delicate lines, calling as gently as ever, "Arai, love... wake up."

As the sun rose a bit higher, Arai slowly came out of her heavily drugged fog. Tranquilizing a fully morphed werewolf took copious amounts of sedation, and that had quite an effect when you shrunk all that mass and fury down to a five two, barely one hundred pound girl. Her mind returned to its full capacities in time, and she began to be aware of her surroundings. Someone called her. The voice was strangely familiar, though. It tugged at her, forcing her back to the real world. Something had happened, she was sure of it. Slowly she started to feel that she was on some hard surface. It was not cold, though it felt like metal. Where was she? Her arms were a bit sore. Arai attempted to open her eyes, but they felt as if they had been glued shut. Her hand twitched a bit. One hand felt a bit cooler than the other. Strange. As she returned to the world of the living, she remembered that it was a full moon. Or at least it had been. What had happened? There had been someone she had been chasing, she recalled, and he had fled into town. And now she was here. Had she killed him? Finally her eyes opened, her pupils dialating and expanding, trying to focus after so many drugs. Her pale gold eyes finally cleared up, bringing the world into clarity. The first thing she was greeted with were thick metal bars all around her and shining steel beneath her. Was she in a cage? Panicked thoughts clamored around in her head, threatening to overcome her rational side. Slowly they subsided as she realized that someone was there, gently calling her name. Finally his name flitered through the fuzziness. Jasper. She had tried to kill him. For now her tongue felt far too thick and dry to speak. So she just lay there, still slightly out of it, slowly letting the drugs stop their dizzying effect on her world.

Arai's eye's opened, she didn't look flustered, it was a good sign. Or at least for now it was. "Good Morning..." Jasper's voice was smooth and gentle. "I think you might want this..." He held out the shirt in his hand and draped it over the cage door. "I'll explain everything in a few minutes as once as you're settled." He got up turning his back to her. His stomach churned, cursing himself for being a gentlemen when he really wanted to turn around and take her into his arms. He picked up the bag that he left on the chair and threw it in the biohazard can. "I'll see if the doctor has anything for you, that may cover you a little bit better," he added, "if that's enough temporarily then feel free to come to the room at the end of the hall, it'll be the open door." Jasper's back muscles tensed with movement as they rippled together when he opened the door to let himself out. The doctor met him outside looking at him with wide eyes, "Dear lord lad," he exclaimed half whisper peering behind him, "Did the lion already pounce this early?" Jasper rolled his eyes and shook his head, letting the door close the rest of the way behind him. "I just left her my shirt, you horny old b*stard," he said gruffly, but smiling while he punched him on the arm. "She'll be hungry, you better have a heavy stock of meat." Dr. Pettenati nodded, "Aye, of course. I already covered the windows for ya Jas. We wouldn't want ya t' shrivel up now." His scottish accent trickled through his words. Jasper walked into the spare room and crashed on the couch soundlessly to wait for Arai.

Blinking, Arai tried to respond to Jasper, but still couldn't force her mind to work in sync with her body. Reaching out a shaking hand once he had left, she managed to pull the shirt down and around her frame. Wearied by even that small effort, she closed her eyes, letting her head sink to the cage floor. Ten minutes later, feeling a bit stronger and beginning to overcome the tranquilizer drugs, Arai pulled the shirt tighter around herself and sat up. The cage was quite large, as were the bars. Considering that she had woken up in here, she figured that somehow she had gotten in here in wolf form. Strange, that this place would have a massive cage that seemed ideal for holding a werewolf. Even if it was a drugged one. For had she been awake, Arai doubted the cage would have been able to hold her. The thing that made lycans so dangerous was not only their unmatched ferocity during full moons, but also the fact that they were highly intelligent, capable of planning, of setting traps, picking locks, being stealthy. The intelligence did depend some on the person transformed, and Arai was both blessed and now cursed with being very smart. But it was over now for another month. Sitting, she looked around her, her mind still a bit fuzzy. Doors and chairs met her view, as well as a good deal of medical equipment. Especially drip bags and monitors. White bandages on her arms caught her gaze. So she had been here for a while then. And whoever did this to her knew what they were doing. For it was not just Jasper; she had heard another voice. It was unusual to find someone who was well versed in the hidden creatures. Especially lycans, for she had heard of no other ones around this area. Ducking, she scooted out of the cage, standing up. Her legs failed her, and she stumbled into a nearby chair. Sitting momentarily, she buttoned up the shirt. It smelled good, she couldn't help but notice, somehow calming. It was large, too, for Jasper was over a foot taller than her. The shirt reached to her knees. Tucking her legs up in the chair, she rested her head against the back, trying to fight out the rest of the drugs as another wave of weariness swept over her.

Jasper stood by the stove unwrapping packets of meat. He wasn't sure how long it would take Arai to finally get her bearings, it'd been a while since he had been sedated last and he knew it took some time. He felt bad for having to do it, he would've preferred not to do it had he had another option; but what else could he have done? He pulled down a big frying pan from the hanging above the range top stove and put half of the package of bacon into the heated pan. Jasper wasn't sure if she would prefer the raw meat or the cooked, so he fixed both. The bacon sizzled in the pan and popped up onto his bare chest. He hissed in pain, holding back a curse. Maybe the smell of food would draw her out of the room even quicker. The doctor was reading a newspaper in his easy chair, he checked his watch, glancing down through the small spectacles that rested on his nose. "Should I go check on her?" Jasper nodded. He knocked on the door, "Miss? Are you okay?"

Dozing as she was in the comfy chair, Arai started a bit at the unexpected voice. She did not know this voice, though she had heard Jasper talking to the man earlier. It was an older voice, an older man. Remembering hard, she figured it must have been the other one with Jasper when they had tranquilized her. Now that she was awake, her keen sense of smell pinpointed a meaty sort of scent. She recognized it as bacon. Arai liked bacon. Having a super high metabolism, she had never worried about eating things other girls considered to be too fatty or high in carbs. And yet she was still skinny as a rail. Even more so now that she didn't eat very regularly. Her stomach rumbled a protest at this thought. After a long night and no food, the small teen was ready to eat. Standing up, she found that the small doze had driven away the dizziness, though a bit of a fog still remained around her mind. A slightly confused look on her face, Arai crossed to the door where the knocking had come from. Making sure all the buttons on the shirt were fastened, she opened the door. Her pale amber eyes gazed up at a jolly looking old man. Actually, he looked rather like Santa Claus. Behind him was Jasper, cooking bacon. Mmm bacon. "I'm fine, thanks," Arai managed, still looking a bit befuddled from her long drug-induced rest, "what happened?"
