Scratching his head, Jarrod tried to figure out where Pete was. Walking down the beach a bit, he found footprints, fresh ones, leading up to his house. Scaling the dune, he couldn't see anyone but Marvin, perched on the ramshackle railing. Holding out his hand as he passed by, he felt the feathered weight of the parrot step on. Opening the door, he couldn't find anyone in the house. Pete had left. "It's just you and me, Marvin. Just like always." he said with a small laugh. But it died in his throat as he gazed out the door again, his sea green eyes misty. "Just like always."

Namir phased back, a tear sliding down her pale cheek. "He's just a guy right. There will be others..." her chest tightened as she tried to fight back more tears. "He obviously didn't care that much that I left.. or he wouldn't have let me go." She sighed shakily. Namir hardly ever let things like this get to her, but it was such a rush, all at once, she wasn't prepared for it. So therefore, she wasn't prepared for it to be yanked out from under her so quickly, the relationship rip chord. "Maybe there's still hope?" she thought outloud, "unless he prances about the beach captivating women and leaving shortly after all the time." she wiped another tear from her eye with her sleeve, her long dark locks forming a curtain around her, shrouding her bare porcelain shoulders. "I'll miss him though.." she looked down at her feet.

He wrapped his arms around her, squeezing gently. "It's okay Namir. We'll see him again." Of course he lied. The chances of running into Jarrod again were slim to none, but that wasnt the point. She was hurting, Pete tried his best to make her feel better. "You still have me, and you know I'll always be there for ya." He said, grinning at her. She may have been older than him, but Pete saw the girl as the little sister he never had. He would do anything to ensure her happiness. He walked backwords to face her, not paying attention his foot slipped on a branch and he hit the ground with a thud. Standing up quicky he brushed the dirt and leaves from his hair. "I totally meant to do that."

Stroking the blue feathers of the parrot, Jarrod thought about sleeping. He really wasn't tired, though. Follow your heart; it will lead the way! Marvin squawked. "I have got to stop letting you watch movies," Jarrod murmered. But the bird was right. Placing him on his shoulder, he grabbed his knife and ran out of the house. As he had though, there were wolfprints in the sand. He began to run, jogging along the line of tracks. If he found Pete, he would find Namir.

Feeling his arms around her, her tears dried with the feeling of security. "Thanks, Pete." Then as he moved back she saw him falling in slow motion and threw her arms out, doing no good, her eyes flying wide to make sure he was okay. Luckily he sprung to his feet once again, a small sigh of relief escaped her lips. Namir rolled her eyes and giggled a little. "Such a clutz." she said as she ruffled his hair.

Pete's mind went on high alert when he sensed another presence approaching them. Whatever it was, it was hauling. "Stay here." He said, gesturing over to a patch of bushes, his eyes glowing gold for a split second, the leaves danced around him as he dissapeared into the night. dashing inbetween trees he hid silently, waiting until he was close enough to make his move. He threw himself out from behind the tree, his knee finding its way into the targets stomach. Pete roared as he prepared for a fight.

Namir darted into the bushes without a further word. She was disappointed she couldn't be part of the action, but as he commanded, she obeyed. For the time being anyways.

Breathing steadily, Jarrod ran to the edge of the forest. He knew they were in here: she didn't leave that long ago. Marvin flapped his wings, flying into the woods ahead of him. Stepping foot inside the tree line, Jarrod whispered, "Namir?" Then, unexpectedly, something flew out in front of him. The knee to his stomach knocked him over, though his tensed abs absorbed most of the shock. He saw a very angry blond teen roar at him. "Pete!" he yelled, "It's me, Jarrod! Chill!"

Namir watched the scene from the solace of the bushes. Quickly as she saw Jarrod hit the ground she sprang out, her combat boots thudding against the leaves and dirt. She lowered her hand to help him up. "You okay?" she asked half concerned, and half impressed with Pete's reaction time. She couldn't help but admire the skill that it took. "Why are you out here?" she asked gaurdedly. Namir couldn't help but coat her heart with a couple thorns for now.

He groaned as he lay on the ground, then he opened his eyes and saw Namir. Her pretty face was a bit concerned as she reached her hand out to him, like an angel from heaven. An angel in combat boots. Taking her hand in his, he couldn't help but note the slender coolness of it. Brushing leaves and sandy dirt off his pants, he grinned a bit sheepishly. "I.....well, I came after you," he admitted. "When you left so suddenly, I decided to let you go. I knew you wouldn't want to get in a relationship with a surfer dude with nothing to his name but an obnoxious parrot. But then I realized that you were worth pursuing. So...I did." He met her eyes, waiting, hoping that she accepted his answer.

As Jarrod began to sit up Pete put his foot on his chest, pushing him back down. "Not so fast, lover boy. I could be wrong, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess someones not happy." His eyes flashed gold as he looked at Jarrod. "So, Namir, whats the plan?"

Jarrod's heart warming speech stirred her a little. She folded her arms over her chest, trying to decide. The thorns of her heart trying to pronounce themselves, raging for him to get his ass handed to him. Namir sighed lightly, "Let him up." she said gently. Namir stared hard into Jarrod's eyes. "You shouldn't assume things." she reminded him. "You don't have the power of mind reading, you aren't the right race for that, yet." Just then, she started shifting through Jarrod's mind, he seemed to be feeling sorry. She never liked to look through people's private thoughts, it was one of the new things she discovered about her abilities. "What's the knife for?" she looked down her voice had a tinge of anger, observing the blade winking in the light.

"Consider yourself lucky she's still talking to you." Pete said, easing his foot off the mans chest. The boy may have only been 16 years old, but he was strong beyond imagination, Pete could have easily broken a rib or two. "Yes, would you like to inform us why your running through the woods with a knife?"

He gladly got up and met her eyes again. Mind reading? As he looked into her eyes, he knew she was probably doing that right now. So he let her, allowing his sorrow and genuine feelings for her dominate. He hid the rest of his life in the back of his mind, putting up the carefully constructed walls he had created. "No one would be caught dead in the woods at night without some sort of protection!" he replied, "Unless you are an almighty lycan, of course." The grin on his face faded into a serious, pensive look as he gazed down at her. She was angry; about what, he didn't quite know.

You let me go. her brow was furrowed angrily. Are you ready to grovel? She felt the tones of his sadness radiate across his mind. Maybe I should lighten up, she thought. "Hand over the knife and we'll talk. And just because you're a lycan, doesn't mean you don't have to have protection. Its just protection from certain things." Her cheeks tinged pink with the heat of her anger boiling up. "For a security measure of course. It'd be senseless for your anger to rage out of control and someone get hurt." she said, keeping her eyes locked on Jarrod's, ignoring the leap of her heart. "Please hand me the blade?" she said a little sweeter than before, lowering her guard slightly. Namir's grey eyes reflected silver in the light, she gazed at him deeply now, trying to convey her thoughts to him, but not projecting, maybe he could figure it out on his own. The pain she'd felt when she'd left, after the rush of the moment, and the longing...oh the longing. She didn't want to be harsh with Jarrod, but her instinctive defenses were telling her to do so. Her heart fluttered more as she continued to sift through his mind, passing memories of a young Jarrod in a high chair, and the first time he picked up a surf board. She smiled to herself at the sweet memories, then she passed along ones of yelling and disappointment, Jarrod hanging in the background as his brother Cristopher stole the limelight. She felt sympathetic, her heart strings tugged by his memories. She had to let him in, he came after her after all, it was just a little delayed. There wasn't any way that she could push those eyes away forever, they'd capture her soon enough.
