The figure sat next to his fire, setting up his meger camp as night began to fall. The snow arround shrank away from the red flames, revealing the hard, barrne soil underneith. Silas pulled his coat tighter around him, and set down his heavy pack for another nights rest and recovery. Something in the back of his mind had told him that setting out for canada in the middle of December had been a bad idea, and he regreted not listening then. The wind was bitterly cold, gnawing at any patch of skin he dared expose until it was raw. Snow was piled waist high in places, and he had been forced through every snow drift between here and Montreal from the feel of it. Almost by sheer luck had he wandered into this forest. The thick pines formed a crude wall against the scouring wind, and the snow wasn't so high. He had gathered dried wood for a small fire, and hoped that the heat wouldn't draw unwanted attention. He felt cumbersme in all of his heavy clothes, and he was no where close to being in the mood for fighting off wolves or whatever else might wander by. Silas focused on his fire, on heating his body after the long days trek through the cold. Tomorrow he would maybe find what he was looking for, if he was lucky. Night began to fall and the woods feel into a quiet solitude. Silas tried very hard to relax, but it was still too cold for him to try and sleep. he heaped more wood onto the fire, and sat down on the dry earth as the crecent moon began to rise a bit higher over the white horizion.

Bitter flakes of snow scattered from the sky as the wind blew them all about outside the forest. There was not a single sign of life anywhere along the stretch of land. And even within the forest it was quiet so that only the stiff pine branches could be heard cutting through the wind. This was the weather that Adele had missed, though. It was especially enjoyable in her Lycan form, and she romped playfully through the snow. Her body was covered in a thick, white pelt that kept her warm and blended her in with the vast oblivion before her. Crouching on the ground, she could be mistaken for a pile of snow until the shifting of her shoulder blades hinted at the pounce she was about to make. This was rare for her that she was camouflaged in her surroundings of the night. On most nights in cities or warmer rural areas, her bleach blonde fur made her stick out like a sore thumb, and she embraced the secrecy she now had playing in the night. As long as Adele was in her wolf-form, the cold wind tickled her body pleasantly, and she felt nothing of its bitterness. It was only a pity that there seemed to be no one out to play with, Adele thought, rolling through a patch of snow and then standing on all fours. Earlier in the forest she had marked a tree where she’d stashed her backpack, containing her clothes and other essentials, including a jacket. And after spending a good amount of time away, Adele returned to the forest in search of her bag. The smell of burning wood, and the subtle air of its warmth trickled into her awareness shortly upon entering the group of trees; and the winter Lycan decided to detour to find the cause of this. Her paws made very little noise as she moved over the snow and through the trees to where a faint orange glow crackled out from the darkness. Keeping low to the snowy ground, Adele stopped a few yards away from the makeshift camp. The light of the fire caught her grey eyes, making them shine subtly out; perhaps the only clue of her presence. And she watched the Human with interest. All alone in the cold, dead winter of the North; yes, he did appear cold, very uncomfortable. In her Human skin, this cold would surely have bothered her much more than it did at present. For what reason was this man putting himself through a cold night here? That fire really was pathetic, but probably the best he would be able to manage at a time like this with so little resources, she observed. At present, Adele was not hungry, nor in an irritable mood; so she was content at the moment to just watch this Human.

Silas sighed as the night wore on, thankful that the wind seemed to die away with the sun's light. He did all he could to strengthen his fire, and after toiling over it he found its megar heat acceptable. The rest of his camp was, in a word, nonexistant. His pack stashed at the base of a nearby pine, and a simple fur blanket stretched out in front of his fire served as his bed. It didn't bother him; in fact he smiled at it all. It was resonably confortable here. The smeel of pine and fresh snow was relaxing, and the sounds of the forrest at night even more so. Silas chuckled at the irony of his situation. He had always enjoyed the outdoors, yet he spent so much time in the crowded streets and back alleys of cities. He rooted around in his pack for something to eat, not to ease any pangs of hunder he might have had, but instead just for something to do. His stores of food were remarkably low for only a few days hike, and he had to admit, that if he spent too much time out here, it was a real possibility he would stavre. He considered that fact grimly, then began chewing on a stick of jerky. he had always liked the outdoors, but he had never planned on dying in them. He sighed, pulling off the ridiculous head gear and gloves he wore. The sting of the cold wasn't nearly so bad as he had thought. Not really tired, Silas pulled one knife from his bag, one of the many blades he kept with him. Had he found any real reason for them, he might have been wearing his chains too, and then he would have put the assorted weapons to better effect, but he was resonably content. He flipped the dagger adsentmindedly. Thinking again. With luck he would find what he was looking for and be gone in a few days. And then he would be back to his regular element of the city where he could kill and do buisness without fear of the cold or wild animals. "...provided I don't freeze to death first..." he murmured aloud. "Never thought I'd miss being with people for once..." His only reply was the noises of the forrest, which he found response enough. At that point, he wouldn't have minded the wild animals right then.

Crouching lower in the snow, Adele inched forward on her haunches; sniffing the air appreciatively as the Human brought out the jerky. She watched the man with great interest; she was ‘people’, for the most part. Subconsciously, her tail wagged slightly, brushing the layer of snow beneath her. This man was curious as he pulled off his gloves and scarf and spoke to himself about freezing to death. But it wouldn’t be any fun for Adele if this man did perish in the night. She was in the mood to have fun, and the Human’s dagger did not dissuade the playful thoughts forming in her mind. Out from the snow, Adele stood up on all fours, growling and approaching the man. Her height and size was larger than that of your average, every-day wolf, and on her hind legs she could tower well over the average heighted man. The low snarl she emitted through barred teeth was only a warning should the Human think it necessary to raise his dagger. She wasn’t going to hurt him; just maybe scare him a bit and rape him into a cuddle. But she waited a moment before going closer, interested to see how the Human would react to her approach.

Silas smiled at the wolf as she invaded the tiny ring of light provided by his camp fire, the flickering light dancing over the white fur of the creature with rather beautiful results. From his position, he could tell the wolf was a she, and was unnaturally large; she could very well kill him if she decided too. Her eyes, glinting impishly in the firelight, seemed nearly human, the most intellegent he had seen since his departure from civilization. But he wasn't concerned about that. His eyes caught traces of snow in the thick fur, flakes that could only have been gotten fron continual romps through the expanding drifts. His smile widened a bit. Curious then, how this wolf decided to show up here, now, after he had been looking for some company, animal or otherwise, and that it would dare enter into his camp. Most wolves, even whole packs, tended to stay clear of fire and humans...very interesting then. "You're no ordinary wolf, are you?" He asked her, not really expecting her to answer, but loving the delicious irony if she did. He flipped his dagger away, and held out his hands, palms out and unthreatening, hoping to draw the she-wolf closer. This would be a very interesting experience if he played his cards right; and when dealing with the super natural and the strange, he always dealt his cards right.

The muscles of her muzzle relaxed at this man’s reaction, and a subtle, sly grin crept upon the animal Adele. She took a few steps closer as he put away the dagger and presented his hands, taking her time with the stride. The smell of fear was nonexistent in this man; instead he held a quiet confidence. Adele supposed a Human needed to possess a certain amount of confidence if he was going to put himself in an environment such as this, though. ((Are you still a Human in this thread, or no?)) Still, the calm and curious energy this man retained, especially as she exposed herself, was curious to the Lycan. In the dim, crackling light of the fire, Adele circled the Human, observing his camp from all angles, but stopped as she made her way back in front of him. She intruded into his mind, but only with words, How did you guess? The tone of her inquiry was not overly playful, but the question was not a serious one.

Silas chuckled, giving his knuckles a quick crack before resuming his relaxed pose against his tree. At least his hunch had been right. ((and yes, i'm still human for this)) For some reason, no wolf had ever simply stood there and watched him before, and never by itself. Most wolves he had met were willing to attack him for entering their territory, or just to get a free meal. He began pulling some more supplies from his pack, setting up for some idea of dinner. Thanks to the climate, he didn't pack much. Most of his room went over to keeping himself warm. He set up for two, keeping his movements slow and as unthreatening as he could. She may not have been a normal wolf, but that didn't mean she couldn't be as dangerous as one. "Maybe I saw you spying on me. Maybe I just needed the company. Either way I'm glad you havn't decided to kill me yet." He said, trying to keep himself sounds cheerful. This wolfess had an aura to her, and besides being able to communicate telepathicly (an ability he knew very little about) she seemed all too human; too calculating. Too friendly, now that he thought about it. The wind bit at his skin somewhat, but hudled with the fire and now not so alone he hardly felt it. "Sorry I'm not being a more graceful host. I'm Silas Bloodthunder." He introduced himself, bowing as best he could. Just looking at this animal reminded him of exceptionally beautiful woman. An odd thought, but he found it fitting.
