Darkness. Complete and total darkness everywhere. He couldn't yet tell whether he was dead or alive. Last thing Aries remembered he was fighting his father. Alright, thought Aries, Now would be a good time as any to find out whether he was still alive or not. He concentrated on moving something, anything, and very slowly, very sluggishly he began to move. He felt very weak and very sore. Very slowly he began to sit up and THUMP! he whacked his head on a low ceiling. Everything was slowly coming into focus now and Aries cursed his eyes for reacting so slow. He could see things much more clearly now. He was inside a small room, with a large stone slab near the center, he himself was laying down on the floor with a large rock jutting out of the wall right above him. Aries wanted to punch the rock in frustration. Being stuck in a small dark place and now the throbbing pain, courtesy of the rock right above his head all continued to annoy him further. I've made up my mind, Aries thought to no one in particular, No more waking up in dark places. This time he slid out from under the rock before trying to sit up, he felt a deep sense of desperation as he did so, and instead of trying to sit up he instead rushed to stand up completely. An extreme head rush hit Aries and he found himself reaching for anything to hold himself up in the spinning world of stars he was now seeing. Just as quickly as the room started spinning it abruptly stopped. Aries quickly brushed himself off and began to look around the room for a way out. He could finally see the exit to this place. Aries quickly gathered everything he could find that belonged to him and made his way to the center of the room. In the center of the room was a large stone slab. Aries climbed on top, VERY slowly because of the creeping soreness invading his body and began to make his way out of the exit in the ceiling of the room. Slowly Aries emerged from the hole in the ground. It was nighttime outside, he could see the stars imprinted on the night sky. He silently rejoiced that the sun wasn't out, he wasn't sure whether his eyes could deal with the harshness of the bright day sky. That's when he heard the voice behind him, "Did you just come out of the ground?"

It had begun a normal day. Well, as normal as a day could be for a nomad werewolf. Arai had woken up much earlier than she intended. She had only slept a few hours before being disturbed. Right now, sitting on a rock that jutted a bit awkwardly from the ground, she tried to figure out why. A slight breeze played with her short auburn locks, causing her to push them out of her eyes automatically. But a few moments later they were back, a few red strands playfully trying to obscure her view. She let them. She wasn't really trying to see anything in the first place. The world of the night was peaceful for now and nothing was moving. Now, about what had woken her up. It wasn't any of the normal things, such as the sun in her eyes or a stick in her back. She knew because it was still dark out and she was not in the middle of a forest, hence no sticks. No, it had been different. Something like a vibration, disturbing her dreams and pulling her out of her sleep. Really, Arai reflected, she should be grateful to whatever it had been. Dreams were not her friends any more. Then again, little was. Her sensitive ears picked up something, and she perked up her head, scanning around her with her night vision. But nothing was there. She knew her ears weren't playing tricks on her; but there was nothing to be seen under the pale light of the stars. That meant it came from underground. Was that what had woken her up? Hopping off the rock, she laid on the ground again, closing her eyes to listen intently. There! A scrape, something like a footstep! it excited her and made her a bit nervous at the same time. Arai glanced around again, her light amber eyes flicking over the landscape for any signs of anything unnatural. The sound got louder, closer. Standing, she backed off a few feet from the rock. It seemed to be originating from that area. And a few minutes later, she knew she was right. A head popped out of the ground, followed by two shoulders, a pair of arms, and a torso. As if stuck in setting concrete the figure moved, coming out of the ground with agonizing slowness. Her mouth half-open in wonderment, she finally found her voice, shutting her mouth and swallowing. "Did you just come out of the ground?" she heard herself asking. It was one of those surreal moment where you aren't quite sure whether you are dreaming or fully awake. Mentally Arai kicked herself. Of course he had just come out of the ground! She had watched, hadn't she. And now her doctor side wouldn't just let her stand by since there was obviously something wrong with him. Going over a bit cautiously, she assured herself that he was real by taking his arm and helping him up. He was warm, so not a vampire, but a bit stiff. Arai wondered why he had been under there. But for now she wanted to make sure he was okay. "Are you okay?" she asked, concerned, "How long have you been under there?"
