An earsplitting scream ripped across the sky as the first wave of vampires rushed into the military base. They'd managed to get in using the secret passages and as such had gone completely undetected. Until now.
Rickter let out an inhuman roar and let himself drop from the sky. The sound of fighting and gunshot got louder and louder as he hurtled towards the ground. He sighted a human underneath him and took out his blade. It pierced the top of the mans skull and went right through his body.
Ripping the blade loose Rickter turned in an attempt to find another target. All those he saw around him were his own men. Unless, ah yes, there's one. A man with captains stripes on his shoulder was just shutting an armored door. Rickter disappeared from the courtyard and soon reappeared in a small corner of the armored room. The doors lock had just been put in place.
"General! Orders?" A wavering voice broke the newly found silence.
"Survive, it's all we can hope for now, staying in here until they're gone is the best we can do."
"Sir, the nukes!"
"Let us pray they don't find them."
Rickter listened to the conversation, he had only recently picked up the Italian tongue so it was a bit hard for him to translate. But he managed.
"I know where they are," he said in a quiet cold voice. "And I know the codes to activate them," before anyone else could speak, or even locate him he had let off three shots into the lower ranking soldiers of the room. He left his hiding place and headed straight for the general. The captains head flew from it's shoulders as he passed, neither man saw Rickters blade move.
"Please, have mercy!" Rickter looked at the general sternly. Unable to speak the human tried to back away. One and a half steps and he was on the floor. Dead.
Rickter took the mans keys and unlocked the door, he strode out into the now silent courtyard. All the vampires he had brought with him were assembled there. He tossed one of them the keys and led the way to the hazardous weapons hanger.
"Any survivors?"
"None, mi'lord"
"Good," Rickter regretted having been unable to find Katherine, she must have been in her angel state. It didn't matter. He'd still let her choose where the nukes were to be planted.
Fifteen minutes later Rickter was sealing the hatch to the catacombs after setting fire to the last building of the base. The four nukes were already being carried along to his chambers. A long walk, but that didn't matter.
"Rome is mine!" he turned away from the hatch and vanished with the rest of his vampires.
