Arai was in the library, as she often was, on this fine afternoon. Since Cameron had showed this wealth of knowledge to her, she came her every day, stopping only to eat and sleep at night. Guards stood outside the door, and she knew a few lurked behind the tomes and scripts lining the shelves, watching her, waiting for her to do something.
She could sense the tension in the air, and she didn't quite understand why. Arai had not attacked anyone, not even after being tortured by these men. But she knew that if she made one move that could be intepreted as aggressive, they would have no problem riddling her with bullets. Sometimes, she reflected, people did not use logic.
Wandering throught the fiction section, she decided on a book she had always liked: A Wrinkle In Time. Lately she had poured her time into medical journals and scientific books, soaking up all the knowledge she missed out on by not going to college. But for now a shorter fiction book would provide a welcome break. Curling up in a nearby chair, she tucked her legs under herself and began to read, her light brown eyes scanning the words, losing herself in the story.

Chris was walking the halls and found the library. Immediately she began looking for books on lycans and vampires. Old tales and mythes, stories, etc, she needed to know know more, and apparently, there was some truth to all of it. All the while though, she had been in her own worled, oblivious to Arai.

Maggie had just met Kevin when Arai heard a rustle in the library. Pulling herself from the story, she looked up, mild interest in her eyes. It was probably one of the guards, but then again, they didn't really read books. Noting the page number of the book, she uncurled her 5'2" frame from the chair, her curiosity getting the better of her. Following the slight papery noise of pages being turned, she silently walked through the library, her light brown eyes flicking about for any sign of the noise. Finally she came to the room Cameron had shown her: the vampire and werewolf database. Peeking her head around the door, a few strands of her auburn hair falling into her eyes, she saw a girl, about her age, with raven colored hair. She was poring through the books, apparently researching. Arai couldn't help but speak up. "I don't know about the books on vampires," she said quietly, her calm voice cutting through the thick silence, "but I know the werewolf books are mostly incorrect."

Christina looked up and noticed Arai, her hair standing on the back of her neck, "Oh, really? Well that's okay, but how would you know per say? And I'm sorry but, who might you be?" She asked curiously at the girl. She seemed to be about her age but never before had she seen another woman outside the military in this building.

A grin flashed across Arai's face. "I know because I read all of them," she stated, "and they do have some things that are true, but mostly it's just assumptions, not facts." Her curious amber eyes scanned the girl. By her eyes Arai knew she was no stranger to fighting and hardship; those things left a certain mark on people. Her skin was smooth, unmarred. It made Arai uncomfortably conscious of her own thin scar tracing down her face. Opening her mouth to introduce herself, she was suddenly interrupted by a shadow across her back. Turning, she craned her neck up to look at one of her guards.
Since the guards refused to engage her in conversation or tell her their names, Arai had named them herself. This particular one she called Chunk. A mass of nothing but muscle, his neck was near non-existent. He was not too bright, but she knew that he could crush her with one blow of his ham-sized fist. "Chill, okay?" she said lightly, "I'm not bothering her." The huge man looked a bit unsure, then he rumbled, "Very well, keep it that way." Then he stomped away, no doubt keeping an eye on her. Turning her attention back to the girl, she said, "Sorry about that, they're impossible to deal with, really."

(Actually, she has a wolf bite on her neck and scratches all on her torso and arms)
Immediately the girl stood up, "You're the lycan they are holding aren't you?" This accusation made sense to her. It explained why another woman outside the military was there and why she knew the lycan books were incorrect. If it was her though she would leave. She didn't trust any of her kind, not after last time. As she though this her hand moved to the bite scar on her neck.

Arai smiled a bit sadly. "Yes, I am," she admitted, "I am Arai." She could see the distrust and hatred blooming in the girl's eyes. Her keen eyes noticed the bite marks on her neck, the scratches on her arms, and she guessed that this girl had probably been attacked. "But I have not attacked anyone," she continued, "and I was attacked myself." Lifting up the edge of her shirt, she revealed the ripping scars that crisscrossed her slender waist. "Despite what you may think, I did not want to be a werewolf. I didn't have a choice in the matter. And you are lucky that you managed to avoid this."

"You're kind are monsters, just like vampires," she growled, "Whether you like it or not, you and your kind have no soul, no kindness. You're just a machine. You've lost your humanity," she growled bitterly.

Arai cocked her head at this. No soul? No kindness? Laughing bitterly, she spat back, "Well if I have no kindness and hence no soul, than there is no hope for your kind! I have just as much reason to be eaten alive by hatred and bitterness for humans. Just ask Brandon, the so-called leader. He will tell you. Actually, he will only tell you what you want to hear. If you want the truth, I would ask Cameron. I am not here because I attacked anyone, no, quite the opposite." She doubted this girl before her could have survived the beating she had taken.

"Cameron..." then she threw the books on the floor and left the library. She squeezed past Arai and there was a tension like no other between them. Chris's own fear would most likely, never allow her to feel sympathy towards lycans. She decided to go to Cameron's office, he hid so much, it wasn't fair.

Arai watched silently as the other girl stormed off, obviously upset. She figured Cameron would be getting a visit from her. Sighing, Arai went back to her book. Picking it up, she flipped through the pages until she found her stopping point. Beginning to read, she found she just couldn't anymore. So she left to go back to her room. The library was silent once more.
