It had been merely a mis-estimation that cost Julie her life. She, together with 20 more of her vampire tribe, had been sent out to rid Italy of some Vampire Hunters, which had troubled the Lemure tribe for such a long time now. In a large combat these two parties collided. And Julie, as their leader, had mis-esteemed their foe's power. Soon, only she herself and 4 others remained. They did not flee, out of several reasons. They wanted to revenge their fallen friends, as well as they were too proud to have to return to the main base in defeat. The 5 of them now stood back on back, in a circle, while soon being surrounded and had to defend their flanks on each side.
It was one of the greatest Vampire hunters of their time who finally managed to slay Julie. She was greatly weakened already when he made her fall to the cold ground. She did not manage to stand up again, for she had wounded her head, and could not think clearly. It did not come to her mind that she could disappear, or use another weapon. Her enemy had free way with her. He forced a wooden stake deep into her chest, leaving her heart with a deep scratch, for the armoury she had worn had protected her heart of directly being pierced. However, it did her no good. It the stake would have pierced her heart directly, she instantly would had turned into ashes, without much pain. But so, she would live a little longer, only a couple of moments, filled with hurt, pain, ache.
In these last moments, the vampires around Julie finally decided to give up, there was no hope for victory. They grabbed her and disappeared, back to the main base, so that at least her body, or rather to say her ashes, for this was all that then was left of her, would be saved and so their memory of her. She had been one of the greatest leaders of the Lemure clan and deserved this one last honour.
They put her into an urn before delivering Rickter the dreadful news. It was decided to hold a ceremony in her memory, as well as in the memory of all the vampires who had fallen at her side. Julie's friends, tribe members and political leaders had been invited for this last fare well.
