Attack from lycans was not what she feared. Max feared little, not even vampires. She was truly a bit curious about them, having never encountered one before. It would be a most interesting fight, to be sure. A full moon. "A blue moon?" Max asked, "A strange occurance. Will anything unusual happen?" Blue moons were rare indeed; if Max believed in omens she would say that a blue moon on Halloween was a very bad sign indeed. Fortunately, she didn't believe in that stuff. Her stomach protested again as she thought. Pulling out another energy bar, she munched on it to at least take the edge off her hunger. Finishing, she swallowed and said, "Listen, Cameron, if I am to fight I need full fuel loaded up. My metabolism runs approximately 3.46 times faster than yours. My heartrate, as I am sure you noticed, also races along at four times faster. Hence, I need something with massive calories. Any ideas?"

Cameron smiled when she mentioned food and needed to be fueled up for the fight. He figured that eating her power bars the whole time wouldn’t do the trick. She was going to need something much stronger than that. She was going to need protein and lots of it. “Well that is fine, if we have to feed you a cow then by God, I will feed you a cow.” He said with a smile and moved to the door and opened it for her. “ In fact, if you would like a steak now, we can provide. The kitchen is always open to anyone.” Cameron said with a smile. He walked out of the room and beckoned for her to join him.

Protein, carbs, vitamins, basically anything chock full of calories. Lots of calories. What they had fed her at the lab had been, like most of the things Max was surrounded by, engineered by them. It was rather tasteless, wholly unappetizing, but filled with thousands of calories. But Max would rather have flavorful food and have to eat more of it than ever endure another tasteless meal. "Steak? Never had it. But it's food," Max said, following him brisquely. Actually, for all her food-loving, Max was rather unaware of all the different foods. As stated, tasteless sludge was her diet for as long as she could remember. But this steak sounded good. She knew it was cow, and probably had a lot of protein. Meat was something that was a rare treat for her. "You shouldn't have told me that the kitchen was always open," Max added ruefully, "your larder will be severely decreased if you feed me until I'm full."

It didn’t take Cameron very long to reach the kitchen. He was hungry as she was. She was probably hungrier than he was due to how much higher her metabolism was than his. That was fine though, they would have plenty to feed her. He walked through the double doors and the chef acknowledged Cameron and Max. Cameron went to the chef and spoke, “My friend as a big appetite, the biggest steak you can possibly make and I am going to need two.” Cameron said calmly. The chef stared wide eyed for a moment. “That is a lot of steak.” He said after a moment, “I know.” Cameron said with a smile. The chef nodded and turned to a chef next to him, “Sam, kill a cow.” He said and the man moved off behind another pair of double doors. He walked to Max and sat down at a booth. “You will never eat out this kitchen, guarantee it.” He said confidently.

Keeping silent and unobtrusive for now, Max watched the exchange. The chef looked at her a bit curiously, but she boldy met his gaze. He looked away, as she knew he would. A stranger refusing to meet people's eyes only bred suspicion. When they sat down, Max felt less exposed with her back against a solid surface. "I'm gonna need a lot more than a single steak," Max warned, "that's an appetizer to me." It was true; she ate like the proverbial horse. Possibly more. An eating contest with a horse...interesting idea. Which sparked another idea. The fair...eating contests....free food and maybe prizes. Max stored that wonderful idea away for later. Now she just waited for the food to appear.

“I don’t think you can eat all of this. It is over two hundred ounces…Basically he meant it when he said go kill a cow.” Cameron said with a smile. “You will see.” It was a little while longer but not too entirely long before the chefs brought out two massive steaks. They had to bring a cart with them because the steaks were so massive. The chefs had a smile on their face as they place one at each one of Cameron and Max’s places. “Are you in some competition or something?” One asked and Cameron shook his head, “nope, just hungry,” He replied and the man raised an eyebrow and walked off shaking his head, taking the cart with him. Cameron looked back at Max, “You will like it, I promise. You can have some of mine if you can still fit anymore down in your stomach.” He said with a smile, cutting into his slab of meat.

At the appetizing aroma of the steak Max's mouth started to water. The steaks were huge, and she supposed they would be more than appetizers. They would certainly provide the protein she needed to fight. She restrained herself while the men put them down, allowing them a small smile of appreciation. But, like Cameron had suggested, she maintained her silence. Let them think she was a mime. But as soon as they were gone, Max could hold back no more. "Trust me," she said, cutting a piece off to match his, "I'll still be able to eat." And so she did. The first bite was rich heaven, the savory juices filling her mouth with flavor. The warmth of the meat traveled down to her stomach, and the saucy taste tantalized her senses. The first bite was slower, being exploratory, but the bites that followed were certainly not. Max literally attacked the steak, eating rapidly. Within ten minutes almost half was already gone. Here she stopped to take quenching drink. "How's your steak coming along?" Max asked Cameron with an amused look on her young face.

Cameron returned his smile and then ate another bite of his steak. Needless to say, he had not nearly eaten as much as she had. Of course, he predicted that it would that way. After all, she had a higher metabolism than he did. In any case, Cameron nodded his head and answered, "Oh its good. I like to savor my food instead of inhale it." Cameron said and looked at Max. How in the world could such a little thing eat so much? There had to be a limit to how much her stomach could hold. It was only as large as her fist and her fist wasn't that large! Either way, Cameron kept these thoughts to himself and just smiled. If he had looked over behind him he would have seen the chefs simply staring at Max with wide eyes and mouths open.

Max shrugged nonchalantely. "Well, if you'd been eating tasteless sludge for the past sixteen years, you'd inhale it too. Anyways, since my metabolism is higher, than means I digest food faster hence," she explained, patting her flat stomach, "as soon as food hits my stomach, it starts getting digested. I have to eat fast to fill up." And with that she started eating again. About two thirds of the way through the steak she slowed a bit, becoming less starving and more just hungry. Then she became aware of eyes on her. It was a familiar feeling, one she knew well, and Max forced herself to continue as if nothing was wrong, just keep eating. Though she did slow a bit more and drink more often. No need to wolf it down at this point. Soon she was finished, swallowing the last juicy bite, and sat back in the booth contentedly. "So," Max said, looking at the still-eating Cameron, "what's for dessert?"

Well it was about time she slowed down. Cameron knew that her body could only absorb so much protein at one time without involving in some sort of physical activity to burn them. He knew that she would involve in that activity tomorrow. It was essential that she didn’t offer stuff herself to the point where she couldn’t move. He was going to make a comment about this but when she mentioned desert he had to think of an answer. “I don’t know, we have anything you can think of. The chefs can make it; it isn’t like we don’t have the ingredients to do it. We have the ingredients to make anything, just tell them what you like or think you would like.” Cameron had a preference of his own, but he was going to let her decide

Well, this was something to ponder about. Max hadn't really eaten a proper dessert before. Unless a chocolate energy bar after a peanut butter one counted. Chocolate...like any teenage girl, Max loved the stuff. But she really didn't get any at the lab. "Anything chocolate," she finally stated. She knew by the strange expression on his face that anyone eating this much was new territory. "And don't worry about my eating habits," Max assured, "I've eaten more and it's never harmed me. I'm used to massive calorie intake; it's the only way I survive."

Cameron smiled when she said to get anything chocolate. Cameron loved chocolate. He was what people referred to as a chocoholic. He didn’t mind that at all because chocolate was heavenly. Heaven would have chocolate or it just wouldn’t be heaven. That was Cameron’s take on it. So Cameron turned around and as he did the chefs pretended to be doing something other than staring at them. He beckoned for one of them to come over. One did so and when he arrived Cameron smiled, “Get me the double fudge, death by chocolate cake.” Cameron said with a smile and the man nodded his head. Cameron apparently ordered that quite frequently. Max would be able to tell by his facial expressions and how easily the name of the desert rolled of Cameron’s tongue. The man then went back to the kitchen and Cameron turned to Max, “Oh, you will like this.” He said reassuringly.

Death by chocolate was a sumptuous way to go. Max wouldn't mind that at all. She supposed Cameron was rather familiar with this certain dessert, judging by the way that he looked forward to it. Max was rather anticipatory as well. "I have to admit that I was expecting MRE's or something," she admitted to the Marine, "not a full restauraunt type kitchen. I suppose such a big operation would need more than MRE's in the long term." Though Max hadn't explored the whole base - yet - she had still seen the arial view, and it looked quite sizable. There was more than likely an underground part of it as well. Max figured if she was here for more than one week she would be able to find her way around just as well as Cameron.

“MRE’s yes, well we have those too if you would like some.” Cameron said sarcastically. He had no doubt that she was more than ready to try what he had just ordered. Cameron himself was looking forward to it. He could wait to sink his teeth in the moist sweet, oh so sweet, cake and let the warm fudge just melt in his mouth. He stopped talking and just stared off into space thinking about. He was jarred out of his dreams by the actual thing as the whole cake was placed in front of them on a pizza sized saucer. Cameron smiled as he saw the warm chocolate fudge. He nodded his head and took an enormous slice, “Oh yea, this is it baby.” He said and began to eat it, savoring every bite.

"Later, maybe," Max said with a nod. And she would eat about three of them too. Food was to be taken quite seriously; she knew he was being sarcastic but ignored it. Max watched, amused, as he stared off into space, probably envisioning his beloved dessert. Then the cake came. Dripping in steamy chocolate, darker than the night forest, this was a true dessert. Cutting a slice that was more like a fourth of the cake, Max ate as well, a drip of chocolate on her chin. But now she didn't care. Max lost herself in that rich creaminess, savoring the sweet chocolate filling her senses. The two ate in silence from that point forward, both thoroughly engrossed in the treat. Yet Max was still aware of the two pair of eyes, possibly more, on her as she ate.
